New York law firm, Olshan, has received notable coverage from Reuters for its activist practice group. This group helps investors seeking board representation at public companies in order to change company direction and strategy to maximize shareholder value.  Activist shareholder campaigns and proxy contests are increasingly being used by investors. This is an area often shunned by large law firms that are loathe to upset their corporate clients.
Reuters names Olshan as one of the top firms that “have come to dominate the activism market.” The article explains that Olshan partner Steve Wolosky stands out in this field because he has dedicated his “decades-long practice largely to advising activist investors.”  The article puts Olshan’s Activist Practice at the same level as much larger firms.
